Registry Training in Autism

Description:
This four day training provides two full days of comprehensive information about the core characteristics of autism including the communication, social and behavioral components of this disorder. Days three and four focus on classroom strategies for supporting students with autism, and offers the unique perspectives of several parents of individuals with autism and a young woman with Asperger's. A case study format provides an opportunity for participants to apply the information from the training to real students in real situations.

About the presenters:
Dr. Diana Mobley is a Licensed Psychologist in private practice in Norman. She is recognized for her lifelong commitment to serving and advocating for people with autism and their families. Dr. Mobley is also recognized for her presentation style and her ability to talk about autism in a clear and understandable way.

Dee Blose is the Director of Youth and Family Services and the parent of a twelve year old son with autism. Dee has served as a partner in the design and delivery of Autism Registry Training for five years. Dee shares her own story and utilizes her knowledge and experience to provide participants with insight into the parent perspective.

What participants say:
"The videos we watched of children with autism helped me gain insight into working with my students and helping their parents."

"I feel more confident with parents of children with autism, more informed."

"Because of my training, I was able to place a child in special education and have witnessed extraordinary progress and social development. With the use of a behavior plan in my resource room, the child was able to carryover appropriate behaviors in his regular classroom."
