The
Autism Summer Symposium
A
ten-day extensive hands-on training for service providers, featuring
Dr. Diana Mobley.
July 7–11 and July 14-18
Mustang Trails Elementary
12025 SW 15th
Yukon, OK
The Autism
Summer Symposium is an intensive two-week training designed
to provide teachers and other service providers an opportunity
to gain first hand knowledge about autism from the best teachers,
the kids themselves and their families. Each workshop trainee
is assigned to a classroom and paired with a student. These
trainees receive supportive instruction and mentoring from
a mentor teacher, Project PEAK (Programming and Evaluation
for Kids with Autism) staff and a veteran service provider
and autism specialist. Special education teachers completing
the training are placed on the Oklahoma Special Education
Teacher Registry for Autism. The morning sessions consist
of extensive hands-on work in classroom settings while families
meet to network. The afternoon sessions are an opportunity
for the participants to debrief their morning experiences
and to learn about autism from Dr. Mobley.
