Community Leadership Solutions (CLS)
Training Concepts

Each of the CLS modules is designed to enhance awareness and knowledge of self-awareness, self-advocacy, self-efficacy, self-regulation, independent performance, self-determination, and the operational ability to self-advocate.


Self-awareness

Aware of strengths and limitations.
Able to determine preferences.
Has choice-making experience.
Able to realize one's impact/affect on others, people and events, both positive and negative.


Self-advocacy

Has rational reasons for choices.
Understands risks and benefits of alternatives.
Requests supports.
Understands the impact of choice-making (knows a choice was made).


Self-efficacy

Makes effective or positive choices based on own knowledge and skills, limitations, needs for support and preferences. Takes decision/choice making actions.
Makes complex choices using past experiences for positive outcomes.
Understands the impact of the choice before the action is taken.
Accepts the consequences of choice.
Seeks affect/impact feedback.


Self-regulation

Engages in ongoing self-evaluation, incorporates feedback.
Alters course if necessary (based on self-evaluation).
Assumes responsibility for choice outcomes.
Assists in building/determining own supports.


Independent performance

Prioritizes, organizes, and anticipates the impact/outcome of choice/decision.
Expresses decisions.
Accesses determined supports.
Makes adjustments (flexibility).


Self-determined

Is secure in own abilities - belief in oneself.
Makes choices and decisions about life goals.
Expresses desired outcomes.
Expresses life satisfaction.


Self-advocate

Generalizes experiences.
Develops a constituency.
Utilizes constituency information.
Expresses constituent's concerns.
