Trauma and Critical Care

The Trauma and Critical Care Program was started in response to the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City for which several of our surgeons were recognized nationally for their rescue efforts. The Trauma and Critical Care team is responsible for the care and treatment of acutely ill and injured patients. The Team provides consultative services for surgical patients in the intensive care units. Roxie M. Albrecht, M.D. is the director of this service, which includes instruction for house officers in emergency ultrasound evaluation of the injured patient, the ATLS course and bedside teaching and instruction in critical care procedures and techniques. Residents rotate on the trauma service during PGY-1, PGY-4 and PGY-5 years.
