2008 Aesculapian Award
The third year medical students voted James N. Stoller, M.D., their choice for Aesculapian this year. Since 1975, there have been 21 Aesculapian winners from the Department of Surgery.
Congratulations to the 2007 Double Award winner, 'Che Miller, MD.
Each academic year, the Lloyd and Ruth Rader Trust considers awards to residents of outstanding promise in clinical medicine or research at The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. The 2007 award was given to one of surgery chief residents, Che Miller, M.D. This is the fourth year in a row, the Lloyd and Ruth Rader Trust Award was given to one of our surgery residents.
Dr. Miller also is the twentieth surgery resident to win the Aesculapian Award. This award, established in 1975, is presented by medical students in the OU College of Medicine to honor scholars for their dedication and excellence in teaching and outstanding contributions to the art of teaching.

Dr. Postier's term as vice chairman will begin in early 2007. In 2008, he will become chairman of the organization.
The ABS is composed of a board of directors representing the nation's surgical organizations.
"The ABS was formed to conduct examinations and certifications for surgeons in order to protect the public and improve the
quality of surgeons nationwide," Postier said. "I am honored to serve on this board with fellow colleagues who share the same

Golf Tournament to raise Pancreatic Research Funds

Cancer Research Fund in memory of David Schultz.

The modern tie evolved from an English boater's hatband, when he put school ribbons round his neck and tied them, four-in-hand. Thus began the trend of creating ties to denote schools, clubs, or achievement. Whatever their origin, your neckwear can be a signal to others about your school affiliation, personality, attitude, and professionalism.
Donald R. Carter, M.D. (1965) designed the University of Oklahoma Surgical Society tie. The design includes the names of the three full time Department of Surgery chairmen woven alternately with the initials OUSS in a narrow cream stripe on an OU red background.
Ties are available for $35.00.
