David W. Tuggle, M.D.

David W. Tuggle, M.D., Professor and Chief, Section of Pediatric Surgery, was born in Texas. He graduated from medical school at Southwestern in Dallas and completed a residency in General Surgery at the same institution in 1985. Dr. Tuggle completed two years of residency in Pediatric Surgery at our institution in June, 1987, and joined the full time faculty at that time. Dr. Tuggle was appointed Chief of the Section July 1, 1995. He received the Weigelt-Wallace Award for exemplary medical care for performing an on-site amputation to free a victim from the debris of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. He is board certified in surgery, pediatric surgery and critical care.
