Accredited residency training (PGY1–PGY4) is offered in combined anatomic/clinical pathology. The program provides exposure to autopsy, surgical pathology, neuropathology, cytopathology (including fine needle aspiration), hematology, toxicology, clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology and virology, immunopathology, immunohematology, immunocytochemistry, coagulation, forensic pathology and dermatopathology. In addition, the clinical and research faculty provide coverage in subspecialty areas such as breast pathology, pediatric/perinatal pathology, renal pathology, oral pathology, dermatopathology, and molecular pathology. Research opportunities are available with major departmental emphasis on the application of molecular, immunologic, biochemical and morphologic approaches to the study of disease processes. Fellowship training is available in Molecular Genetic Pathology.
