Autopsy Services

Willard Aronson, MD, Director (ET & Presby)
Jan V. Pita, MD, PhD, Chief (VAMC)

All of our Anatomic Pathology residents participate in the autopsy studies at Everett Tower, Children's Hospital, and Veterans Administration Medical Center.  In addition to the autopsies which we perform at our hospitals, we have an Oklahoma City autopsy program involving a dozen institutions in and around Oklahoma City.  Our autopsy cases are studied utilizing the latest laboratory techniques, including immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and molecular genetics.  Of course, we consult freely with the various specialists in our departments.

Cytopathology

Rosemary Zuna, MD, Director

Our three board-certified Cytopathologists evaluate Pap smears, including Thin Prep paps, from more than 70,000 women each year. An on-going study regularly correlates the interpretation of cervical biopsies with results from Pap smears from our high risk population of women.  Special expertise is provided by one cytopathologist in fine needle aspiration pathology, and another offers special expertise in body fluids.  For a comprehensive list of diagnostic tests focusing on women's health, explore our page on Women's Pathology Services.
