Providing Services for Alzheimer's
Families in Communities Across Central and Western
Oklahoma
Education:
- We are a
resource center for information about Alzheimer's Disease and other dementia
disorders
- We provide
lists of nursing homes, adult daycare centers, home-health agencies, and
respite care sitters
- We send out
the National Association's quarterly newsletter to our members, and our
Chapter newsletter to interested individuals, families, and institutions
across the country
- We sponsor a
Speakers Bureau for support groups and community programs, and in-service
training for Alzheimer's care professionals
Patient and Family Services:
- We provide a
community Helpline to answer questions about coping with Alzheimer's
Disease
- We sponsor
support groups for care-givers, family members, and friends of Alzheimer
patients
- We are your
source for information about the Safe Return program, which supplies an
identification bracelet for wandering patients, and the Autopsy Assistance
Network, which arranges for post-mortem examination of patients for purposes
of definitive diagnosis and for research into the causes and possible future
treatments of Alzheimer's Disease
Advocacy:
- We act as a
watchdog agency for public policy and legislative matters which affect
Alzheimer's families and care institutions
- We lobby for
research dollars for the study of dementia disorders
The Alzheimer's Association
serves thousands of patients and families in Oklahoma. Each year, the
Association reaches people through:
