Educational Meetings

Attendance at educational meetings is a privilege and not a right. Up to five (5) educational days with pay are allowed each academic year. More than that must come from vacation leave or is taken without pay with approval of the Chair.

PGY-1 residents must have ACLS and ATLS, and should have it prior to coming to OU, or take the class within the first week of their intern year. PGY-2 residents attend the Orthopedic Trauma Association's Basic Fracture Course. PGY-3 residents attend a total joint course. PGY-4 and PGY-5 residents may choose which course or meeting they wish to attend and obtain approval from the Department Chair.

Residents may attend meetings to present papers or exhibits with appropriate approval. Department funding is available to present a paper or exhibit at one meeting per academic year.
