Benefits Provided by and
Requirements of the Department

1. Reimbursement for Expenses of Educational or Professional Meetings
   Reimbursement up to $1,100 is allowed per fiscal year to attend an educational meeting.

2. Professional Liability Insurance
   Residents are required to have professional liability insurance. The Department pays the premium for this insurance.

3. Loupes
   Standard loupes are purchased for residents by the Department at the end of the PGY-2 year.

4. Libraries--Williams Pavilion and Children’s Offices
   Both libraries subscribe to many of the juried orthopedic surgery journals. Books are purchased to add to the libraries as deemed necessary by faculty members.

5. Resident Operative Experience Summary Forms and Rotation Evaluation Forms
   These must be completed by each resident at the end of each rotation.

6. Other Requirements

   1. Each resident is required to select a research project, then write and present either a Visiting Professorship Paper or a Research Update each year, depending on their year in training.

   2. Residents take in-house or at-home Call every third night
