Benefits Provided by and Requirements of Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center

Each year residents must sign a Residency Agreement with the College of Medicine, thereby indicating a willingness to abide by both the Agreement and the House Staff Handbook.

1. Pay

2. Leave
   Vacation: Three weeks (15 days) of vacation are authorized with preferably no more than one week to be taken on any given rotation. Vacations may not be taken the last week in June or the first week in July without special approval. Any vacation leave not taken in the academic year will be forfeited.

   Sick Leave: Three weeks of sick leave (120 hours) are granted each year. While it is rarely used, it is available for emergencies.

   Educational Leave: Residents may request up to five (5) days of educational leave each year. Time not used does not carry over to the next academic year.

3. Insurance
   Health, dental, and life insurance are provided for the resident at no charge. Coverage is available for dependents with premiums paid by payroll deduction.
