Program Description


The residency program in neurology provides a total experience in clinical neuroscience. During the PG-2 year, the resident will have primary patient contact on the neurology wards. The PG-3 year includes 3 months of Child Neurology, 2 months of Clinical Neurophysiology with one each of EMG and EEG, 1 month of Psychiatry, 1 month of Neuropathology, 1 month of Radiology, 1 month of Ophthalmology, 1 month of Clinic (with attendings), and 2 months of Electives. The final PG-4 year, the resident has Chief Resident duties on the OUMC and VA services, as well as elective time.

The basic science course for neurology residents includes a three year curriculum covering neurophysiology, neurochemistry, and neuropharmacology. This course is delivered in a seminar format with meetings once per week. In addition, the residents meet for weekly conferences and lectures.

Visiting professors from other institutions are part of our program every two to three months as well.
