Degrees Offered

Master of Sciences
Applicants must present evidence of successful completion (overall B average) of the following course work during the attainment of their baccalaureate degree:

(1) mathematics calculus through differential equations
(2) general college physics, 8 semester hours
(3) general college chemistry, 8 semester hours
(4) modern physics, 3 semester hours
Consideration will be given to applicants who have yet to complete a limited portion of this course work; however, deficiencies in perquisite courses must be removed as soon as possible. No graduate credit will be awarded for remedial work in lower division undergraduate courses.

Doctor of Philosophy
Applicant must present evidence of highly successful completion of training that is equivalent to a master's degree program at the University of Oklahoma. Ability to conduct independent scientific investigation is essential.

Basic Radiological Sciences (Core Courses)

  • Radiation Measurements (4 hrs)
  • Introduction to Radiation Biology and Radiation Chemistry (2 hrs)
  • Production and Absorption of Ionizing Radiation (4 hrs)
  • Physics of Radiation Therapy (4 hrs)
  • Physics of Nuclear Medicine (4 hrs)
  • Physics of Diagnostic Radiology (4 hrs)

Computer and Statistical Methods in Radiological Sciences

  • Decision Theory in Radiological Sciences (3 hrs)
  • Pattern Recognition and Image Processing (3 hrs)

Clinical Radiological Sciences

  • Radiation Oncology (3 hrs)
  • Diagnostic Radiology I (3 hrs)
  • Principles of Nuclear Medicine (3 hrs)
  • Radiological Physics of Magnetic Resonance (3 hrs)
  • Ultrasound (2 hrs)

Research, Special Studies, Directed Readings and Seminar

  • Research Methods in Radiological Sciences (1-8 hrs)
  • Directed Readings in Advanced Topics (1-6 hrs)
  • Special Studies (1-8 hrs)
  • Research for Master's Thesis (credit hours vary)
  • Research for Doctoral Dissertation (credit hours vary)
  • Seminar (no credit)
