We would like to thank all of the residents for the honor and opportunity to represent the Diagnostic Radiology residency program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center as your Chief Residents for the 2005-2006 academic year.

Our main goals for this year are three-fold. First, we would like to serve as resident advocates. We are available to the residents at any time, and will work hard to help provide solutions and assistance to any needs to the best of our ability. Secondly, we would like to continue to move forward and promote resident education for all post-graduate year-level residents. We recognize that resident education through focused didactic and case-based conferences, guest lecture series, and integrated learning during clinical rotations is the cornerstone to the cultivation of excellent clinical radiologists that can continue to adapt and excel throughout his or her career. Thirdly, we hope to strengthen the role of radiology as a vital subspecialty at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. We will work to help streamline workflow, establish education on appropriate imaging to other clinical services, and allow the residents to function with efficiency both on clinical rotations and on call.

These goals will be accomplished through concerted efforts and involvement between all residents and faculty. We believe that these goals will serve to help the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Diagnostic Radiology residency program succeed in training outstanding current and future radiology residents by giving them the foundation from which to build and continue to refine their practice of radiology. We also hope our work towards accomplishing these and future goals will encourage a tradition of involvement and excellence for future Chief Residents.

Sincerely,

Stephen S. Shinault, DO
