Welcome to the web site of the University of Oklahoma Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program. I hope these pages will give you useful information about our program, the people here and Oklahoma.

The OU Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program is not for everyone. Like the red “O” in our logo, applicants are selected after evaluation from many angles. Our Program seeks residents who have strong academic histories, a passion for the visual and technical aspects of radiology, interests in research or other scholarly activity and curiosity about the business of radiology. Our bottom line is a focus on quality, cost effective patient care with added interests in pursuing improvement in care delivery and diagnostic options through scholarly activity and research. Enthusiasm and energy for the multiple facets of the practice of radiology are needed to be successful in our residency program; in return we will provide an environment with the tools and resources you need to achieve competency in the practice of radiology.

It is an exciting time on our campus. Extensive facilities changes are in process which will result in consolidation of our three-building campus to two main hospitals (1) adult medical and surgical care, including a state of the art emergency room and Level I Trauma Center; and (2) a newly renovated tower to provide women’s and children’s services, including new construction to house an ambulatory children’s care center. Along with these building changes have come commitments for new radiographic equipment and completion of a PACS project. We anticipate installation of a new PET/CT scanner in early 2006.

Within the Department, we have new support for our work and education – the Radiology Informatics Section and the Research and Technology Development Section. Each of these sections is staffed with leaders who bring expertise, experience and leading edge thoughts to our Department. We have expanded opportunities for residents to participate in clinical research and informatics development and have a strong foundation to promote contributions to available knowledge in radiology.

Our strength is in our residents and faculty. We all work hard to learn together – through providing service to a diverse patient population and through our structured academic program. The web pages here will tell you more of our curriculum, educational programs and benefits. I hope these pages will give you useful information about our program, the people here and Oklahoma.

I hope you will take a few minutes to read about our logo; it does express what we are about! The University of Oklahoma Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program is dedicated to academic excellence, the use of leading edge technology in support of quality patient care and development of the radiology professionals of the future.
