Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship

The University Of Oklahoma Dept Of Anesthesiology offers a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology. One candidate is selected among qualified candidates each year. Completed Anesthesiology residency from an accredited program is required.

We offer a comprehensive program designed to prepare the Fellow to be a consultant in pediatric anesthesiology and perioperative management of children of all ages. The candidate will be exposed to a wide spectrum of clinical cases, procedures and techniques across several subspecialties within pediatric anesthesiology. Perioperative care, pain management and anesthetics are provided for neonates through adolescents, for cardiac, neurological, general and trauma surgery, ORL, plastic and reconstructive, urologic, orthopedic, oro-maxillo-facial and dental procedures. We are the only Children’s hospital for the state.

Experience with pediatric intensive care, cardiac critical care, perioperative echocardiography, investigative imaging, acute pain management using regional anesthesia with ultrasound guidance, and opportunities for clinical investigation are part of our comprehensive curriculum. Didactic courses by faculty enhance the educational experience. Exposure to the economic and legal aspects of independent practice, medical simulation and participation in the annual anesthesia review course sponsored by the department is provided.

Our faculty members in pediatric anesthesia have diverse interests including education, cardiac anesthesia, acute pain management, business administration, regional anesthesia and clinical research in pediatric anesthesia.
