STIPEND/BENEFITS Q1. Is there a fellowship
or stipend for GPiBS students? A1. All accepted applicants receive a stipend each year. The
current stipend is $20,000. In Fall 2007 the stipend will increase to $21,500.
Q2. Are
there any other benefits for GPiBS students? A2. For all accepted applicants tuition
is waived and student health insurance is paid.
GRE/TOEFL TESTS Q1. Do I need
to take a subject GRE test? A1. We do not require a subject GRE test,
the general GRE is required.
Q2. What
is the institutional and department code for GPiBS? A2. There
is no departmental code for GPiBS. The institution code is 6902.
Q3. What
is the minimum score on the TOEFL for international students? A3. 550
on the paper based test

you accept MCAT scores instead of GRE scores? A4. MCAT
scores will not be accepted in place of GRE scores.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Q1. What
are the academic requirements/prerequisites? A1. An undergraduate degree in a relevant major is required. Also,
to be a competitive applicant
you must have
had Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and an upper division
biology course
such as
Physiology, Cell Biology, Molecular or Microbiology. Calculus
and Physics are also
helpful.
Q2. Do
I need research experience? A2. Research experience is very beneficial
and having a recommendation letter from the mentor
in whose lab you
have worked is very important.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Q1. I am an
international student – can I send you my official international
transcripts? A1. All international transcripts must be submitted to the
World Education Service (WES –
website is: www.wes.org). This
evaluation must be on a course-by-course basis and, while
your
file can be reviewed by the GPiBS Admissions Committee, you cannot
be “officially”
accepted
without the WES evaluation.
